What Awana Believes
Truth and Training

We begin your toddler's exciting Bible experience in Puggles. Your two and three year olds get an introduction into God's word. This Biblically based Instruction works together with parents to form a solid foundation on which your child will be able to grow and learn.

Puggles study includes take-home cards which allow parents to reinforce the week's lesson with Scripture reading, a parent plan and simple activities. Use these tools anywhere and every day to instill God's word in their hearts and minds.

The curriculum is built around four precepts: God made everything, God saw that it was good, God is love, and Give thanks. Your toddler will enjoy the hands on activities.

Cubbies, three to five year olds, will learn to develop a real respect for God, His Son and His Word. Parents will use the lessons learned in class to help their student grow in Biblical wisdom. Take-home cards are replaced with handbooks which the parent will use to highlight the lesson learned that week. Sections of the handbook, called Bear Hugs, also prepare the student for next week and review Bible verses.

Your child will learn about the many attributes of God, that His Word is truth and that Jesus is His beloved Son. They will also wear a special vest each week. This uniform will be a place to display awards earned through diligent study. These Cubbies' vests will be a special treasure that will create additional desire for success in your child's life.

Sparks builds on the curiosity of your child. Kindergarten to second grade is a time of exploration. We use the Awana group time to learn about people and events in the Bible as well as building a foundation for personally knowing God's Son. Parents always play the leading role in their child's development and it is especially important that the parent spend time with this age group to answer questions and guide their child into right paths. Sparks' hand books offer parents suggestions and help strengthen the lessons learned that week. Bible verses instruct and inform your student about God's plan.

New vest and new awards, your child will look forward to their advancement. Watch your child mature right before your eyes as they learn exciting new verses and show a greater command of their lives.

Growing in Grace. Your child will expand their educational understanding in third through sixth grade in this Awana group. They will learn about God's authority, your leadership position in the home and their responsibility to God and you. Your student will recognize that with additional liberties and independence come additional responsibilities and accountability. The parent will be given a unique opportunity to display leadership and grace. These qualities are too often overlooked by parents the result may lead to a rebellious child as they discover a growing world. Parental participation along with a better understanding of God's laws gives your student a better chance at success. Studies in this group ask questions and provide Biblical answers.

  • Why did God give us His Word?
  • Who is God?
  • Who is Jesus?
  • Who is the Holy Spirit?
  • What does God say about my Parents?
  • Why should I go to Church?
  • What is a good friend?

These questions open up opportunities for communication in the family at the dinner table, fishing, or just out for a drive. The take-home handbook allows parents to see what their child is learning and allows the parent to establish an open line of dialogue.

T-shirts replace vests and the awards keep coming. Passport collection pins, badges and award bars recognize the accomplishments of your child. Their success motivates the  children in Sparks and Cubbies to new heights as your child becomes a leader in this children's ministry.
