Point of Impact

Honduras will only be changed as the individuals within are changed. Point of Impact exists to uplift, strengthen, and empower Hondurans into the world with the Word of God and the love of Christ!

POI operates through five elements of Impact

  • DISCIPLESHIP
  • TUTORING
  • MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
  • NUTRITION
  • SPORTS

This year the point of impact for Honduras is to perform multiple community service projects. Activities include repairing Churches and an orphanage. The team will visit a cancer treatment hospital, an HIV center for children, and nursing homes. Additional events include feeding the homeless and outcasts, participating in Bible schools, worshipping at church services in San Juan, Feb. 21, Crucitas, Villa Nueva and Guacerique.

The pace will be brutal for these participants--no time for observers. Very little time is set aside for leisure. Their days begin at 7:00 AM and wrap up when they are finished--usually 7:00 or 8:00 PM. One day has been set aside to allow some recovery time-- the day before they return home. The team has been given seven hours to play with 400 children from the orphanage. No structure just one on one time with children who have no parents and are desperate for attention.

A number of the team members are making their first journey to the mission field. Others are seasoned veterans who have made a number of journeys to Honduras or other countries around the world. The memories made this week will burn in their minds and hearts for years to come. The impact on the team's lives will be immeasurable. The impact on the lives of the children and adults that they touch will probably not be known this side of heaven, but God knows.

We went to a children's cancer hospital, an elderly home and an orphanage today. We cannot post orphanage photos due to security issues. Tonight we have an outdoor concert and feeding homeless...  Bob Furniss
