It is the glory of God to conceal things, but the glory of kings is to search things out.

                                          Proverbs 25:2 ESV

Yet

those who

wait

 for the Lord

will

gain new strength;

they will

mount up

with wings

like

eagles...

Isaiah 40:31 NASB

If any

of you

lacks

wisdom,

let him

ask God,

who gives generously

to all

without

reproach,

and it will

be given

him.

James 1:5 ESV

Student Ministry at The Grove

Come be a part of an exciting adventure as you participate in Bible study and worship with students from around the Mid-South. Join us as we learn and serve.

Youth Ministry Plan

The goal of HGBC’s Student Ministry is to lay the groundwork, a sure foundation, for our young students’ lives. Every week the students (7th-12th grades) get together at The Grove to study God’s Word, encourage each other, and have a great time. Sunday School classes, Wednesday night Worship services, mission projects, camps, and other special events, allow the HGBC’s Student Ministry to teach, develop, and equip students to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Students become committed to letting God change their lives, strengthen their families, build the Church, and influence their world.

Sunday School                         Sunday @ 10:00 AM

Young men and women develop a meaningful relationship with the Savior in small Sunday School classes. Student Life Curriculum provides a rich environment of learning and life application. These life altering classes provide a support structure that will assist them in making better decisions when they are away from their parents.

Student Bible Study                      Wednesday @ 7:00 PM

Meet together with other students and participate in Bible study with a  biblical message. These events allow students to better understand their role of Worshipping God in a youth friendly setting.

Summer Mission Camp

Summer for  youth group students included the opportunity to attend an exciting summer camp. Our 7th- 12th grade students travelled to Merge 2011 in Millington, TN. In a week filled with Bible study time, worship celebration experiences, recreation activities, and other dynamic events, students will grew spiritually and built relationships that will last a lifetime. The dates were June 20-24, 2011. Plans are being made now to particapte in Merge 2012. Watch for details!

Special Events

Youth group lock-ins and other activities are designed to promote lasting friendships and strengthen Christian principles in the lives of our students. As we draw closer to God, we develop the skills to better prepare for life. For the latest information about upcoming student events, visit this site regularly and watch for emails.

Service Opportunities

We have an ever expanding list of youth ministry service opportunities including, local, national, and international church outreach ministries, shut in and elderly home visitation, church special event host positions and other events.

Music

Opportunities to participate in Worship and planned productions will allow your student to explore their artistic talents. These events will require rehearsals in preparation for singing in Worship Services and unique productions. We need Worship leaders for choir and orchestra.

Recreation

Do you have a favorite sport? We are exploring ways to participate with other church leagues in the area. If you have an idea, share it with us.

In View if the Times

When I began my ministry with the Youth at Hickory Grove three years ago I developed a philosophy of ministry that has served me well. It has been my goal to teach the youth the things that I know now that I wish that I had known when I was their age. This philosophy has led directly to our current study of the book of James.

This study serves two purposes. First, we will learn what God has to say to us about wisdom and faith in this great letter. Second, we will be learning a skill that is foundational to Christian growth. That skill is Methodical Bible study.

Methodical Bible Study has three major components; observation, interpretation, and application. Observation tells us what the Bible is saying. Interpretation answers the question, what does the Bible mean? Application teaches us what we are supposed to do with the truths that we have learned. The goal of this study is to change the way our students study their Bibles from an educational exercise to a vibrant life changing encounter with God’s word.
